The larger rectangle is the measurable upgrade

For a design-first shortlist, test your existing and planned design dimensions against the documented field. A long, narrow design can behave differently from a square one, even when its total area is smaller. Quarter-turn geometry in the fit tool is a useful screening step; the finished stitch file still needs to be accepted by the machine with the intended frame.

Do you need a combination machine?

A buyer with a suitable sewing machine already may be comparing additional embroidery capability rather than replacing the entire setup. PE900 is an embroidery-only alternative in the same published field class. Keeping a separate sewing machine may allow a different workflow, while a combination machine may reduce the number of devices to store. This is a workflow trade-off, not a measured productivity claim.

Do not round accessory identity down

The N at the end of SAMF180N matters in the evidence we reviewed. Its product page names this model; the similarly named SAMF180 page names a different family. We record that difference without turning absence from one list into proof of incompatibility. Resolve the exact supplied part, fit and any firmware conditions before ordering. We have not tested either frame on this machine.

650 spm is a maximum embroidery rate, not a finished-project throughput promise.
SAMF180 and SAMF180N are different part references.
A 130 × 180 mm field does not establish compatibility with every frame bearing a 5 × 7 label.
