Can a larger hoop make the Brother SE700 embroider bigger?
Three sizes that should not be merged
A frame has physical outside dimensions, an area that holds fabric and an embroidery workflow supported by a particular machine. The machine also has its own maximum stitchable field. A shop listing that gives one large measurement may not be describing the fourth number you need: the dimensions of one uninterrupted design that the machine can accept in the selected position.
What Brother says a multiposition frame changes
Brother’s support answer explains moving a frame between positions to combine designs without rehooping as often. For the covered 4 × 4 models, including SE700 and SE725, it states that the single-design maximum remains 4 × 4. This supports a distinction between staged placement and a larger uninterrupted field; it does not approve an arbitrary frame for every covered machine. [Source]
Nominal inches need a boundary check
SE700 documentation also uses 100 × 100 mm, while a support article expresses the limit as 3.93 × 3.93 inches. A literal four-inch design converts to 101.6 mm. That is why our fit calculator keeps field inputs in documented millimeters and converts a design entered in inches rather than silently treating four inches and 100 mm as equal. Check the machine’s final acceptance, especially at the boundary.
A worked screen before shopping
A 95 × 95 mm design fits a 100 × 100 mm rectangle before any added allowance. A 110 × 80 mm design does not fit that same rectangle at zero or ninety degrees. Rotating the latter by a quarter turn merely moves the 110 mm side to the other constrained axis. These are geometry examples, not instructions to scale, split or stitch an unverified file.
The buying sequence
First establish the stitched size you need. Next confirm the exact machine field and whether a staged workflow is appropriate. Finally verify the precise hoop part against manufacturer documentation, including any version conditions. A missing model in a public accessory list is unresolved evidence, not permission to buy and force a fit. For projects that consistently need a larger uninterrupted field, compare machines offering that field rather than budgeting an unsupported hoop upgrade.
